How it plays

One deck, two card holders, a passenger who reads and a driver who drives. There’s no destination and no winner. The drive is the game.

The short version

It’s this simple.

01Draw a card and read it out loud.

02Do exactly what it says. Next left, drive until the song on the radio is finished, or turn in the direction of the sun.

03Complete the card and draw again.

Everything else you need to know.

01

Set up

Shuffle the deck. Stick the two card holders to the dashboard or windscreen on the passenger side. The passenger holds the deck. The driver never touches a card.

Action cards

Most cards are Action cards. Read one out and do it straight away: take the next left, follow that red car, turn toward the sun. When it’s done, draw the next one.

Dashboard cards

Red-titled cards are Dashboard cards. They wait for something to happen: crossing a bridge, stopping at a red light, passing a school. Put it in a holder, draw another card, and when the trigger shows up mid-drive, do the challenge. Up to two can be active at once; a third replaces the oldest.

The randomizer

When a card says (D), (#) or (U), look at the back of the next card in the deck. It shows a direction, a number and a unit (minutes, or miles/km). That’s your answer. The same card never sends you the same way twice.

When the road says no

Blocked turn? Rock, paper, scissors: the winner’s side of the car is the way you go. Dead end? Turn around. Card impossible where you are? Discard it and draw again. Lost the car you were following, or ten minutes have passed? Shuffle it back in.

Ending the game

Play until the cards run out, or until you’re somewhere worth stopping. There’s no finish line. If you get through the deck, shuffle and go again.

Inside the deck

Draw one.
Do what it says.

Machinery MileDrive until you spot some farm machinery. On the road, take the next left. In a field, roll for right. Drive until you spot more machinery.

Fuel Station FeastStop at the next gas station. Each person buys the strangest snack they can find. Then swap.

Sun ChaserTake the next turn in the direction of the sun. If it’s directly above you, go straight on. Drive until you spot a real estate sign.
